Hymns for 15th Sunday, Year A

For the Entrance Hymn I wanted to do something that echoes the Entrance Antiphon.  As the Deer Longs by Bob Hurd goes nicely (… When shall I see, see the face of God), but most of the congregation don’t know this one, so I might just do Seek Ye First and practice As the Deer Longs before Mass.  For Offertory, we’ll sing Unless of Grain of Wheat (Bernadette Farrell), which reflects back to the theme of wheat in the Gospel reading.  For Thanksgiving after Communion, we’ll sing Taste and See (also Bob Hurd) which has obviously Eucharistic references .  This psalm has come up a number of times during last week’s weekday masses.  The Recessional Hymn will be O Purest of Creatures, in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whose Feast is on Wednesday, 16th July.

Hymns for Corpus Christi

I have chosen these hymns for the Yanchep Vigil Mass

Entrance:  Gather Your People (AOV 71). The theme of this hymn reflects the second reading about our being parts of the one body which is Christ.

Offertory:  Lord Jesus, Lamb of God (AOV100).  Continuing the Corpus Christi theme, the second verse of this hymn is “Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, you feed us with yourself.”

Communion: Sweet Sacrament Divine.  An obvious choice for this solemnity.

Recessional: May God Bless and Keep You (AOV177).  God’s beautiful words to Moses revealed in Numbers 6:22-27.
